Biology Research Experiences

FIELD BIOLOGY

During her senior years as a Biology Honours Majors candidate, Michelle visited the Queen’s University Biology Station (QUBS) as part of field research in evolutionary biology.  Some of her field studies include tracking chipmunk foraging behaviours, insect sampling using sticky traps, pitfall traps and sweep net sampling, and comparing the growth of bluegill and pumpkinseed fish. Michelle's final research paper was based on the QUBS data collection on the investigation of low fruit set in a common milkweed, Asclepias syriaca, through testing resource limitation hypothesis and pollination limitation hypothesis.
