RESIDENCE SENIOR DON-CHOWN HALL    
     

Michelle worked as a student leader, advisor and educator to residents and her staff team through peer helping, educational programmings and the maintenance of community standards. As a Senior Don, she was responsible for leading and supporting a team of dons and residents in Chown Hall. She has organized staff meeting and building events such as Corn Maze on Wolfe Island, exam preparation workshops, health educations etc. Most importantly, she promoted a positive, respectful and inclusive living and learning community environment while supported students on personal, academic and social development.

PEER CAREER EDUCATOR    
     

As a Career Educator, Michelle provided career support on personal and professional development and educational assistance on cover letters, resume and interview skills through one-on-one appointments at Queen’s University Career Services. In addition, she has presented at outreach careers workshops for the Queen’s community on these subjects at the Learning Commons in Stauffer Library and directly coached students in preparing for job interviews and paperworks.

RESIDENCE DON-VICTORIA HALL    
     

Michelle was a don at the largest co-ed residence building, Victoria Hall, housing more than 850 residents, at Queen’s University. She worked in a team of 35 staff members and organized various floor events and community-building programmings, such as the casino night fundraiser, dodgeball tournament, study strategies and careers workshops. Moreover, she attended additional training and provided her residents with counseling and advising on topics including mental health, school academics and career directions.

 
HOUSE PRESIDENT    
     

Michelle was elected by the residents to be the President of two residence halls and has led a team of facilitators and floor representatives, creating high quality building events such as holiday canned food drive, taste-of-the-world semi-formal, spa distress night and more. She also focused on enhancing and promoting inter-room, inter-floor and inter-building interactions and authentic relationships, while maintaining a sense of independence and individuality.

 
     
DISCIPLINE FACILITATOR    
     

As a Discipline Facilitator, Michelle assisted in maintaining community standards, supported community development and events planning. Her main responsibility was conducting individual interviews with respondents and provide appropriate sanctions based on their discipline cases. From this work experience, Michelle has acquired effective listening skills and peer helping skills and improved her communication and interpersonal skills.
